Manage people by nudging and not by nagging…

Successful managers be it small or big or even startups cajole people to align them to the departmental and organizational needs. Many managers, on the other hand, simply articulate organizational needs without giving a thought to the individuals’ mindsets. The McKinsey Quarterly’s article “Nudge, don’t nag” is timely. It gives 3 simple tips on nudging – showing people choices which are easy to follow and personal. Articles and books on managing people are many but very few are pragmatic. Great mangers standout from typical managers on one key aspect: They first understand their people to identify their strengths and weaknesses and then align them to business needs.
